About Us
In January 2025 the former Leiston United Church and Saxmundham United Reformed Church joined together to form Leiston and Saxmundham United Church LSUC – a Local Ecumenical Partnership of the Methodist Church and United Reformed Church. We are one church with two locations and we alternate location for worship each Sunday. Details of worship services can be found on the calendar page where you will also find a quick check for worship for the coming Sunday and the following week.
Our worships broadly traditional in style and reflects the Methodist and United Reformed traditions. Services include hymns and worship songs, prayers, Bible readings, a message (sometimes called a sermon) and a variety of other elements. Worship is led by one of our ministers, visiting worship leaders or by the elders of LSUC.
We usually celebrate Holy Communion (The Lord’s Supper) once each month, on the first Sunday. We also hold seasonal worship activities. We have a number of regular or occassional activities, details of which you can find on the calendar page and the news and events page where you can also download the latest LSUC Newsletter and Pastorate Magazine.
Weddings, Infant Blessings, Baptisms and Funerals as well as other special celebration services can be arranged. Please contact our ministers or church secretary to find out more.
Two Locations
LSUC – Leiston Church
The Leiston church building is situated at the centre of Leiston, on the High Street. It is a typical chapel of the later Victorian Period. We generally access the building via the side entrance as this provides level access to all parts of the group floor. During the winter months we worship in the church hall. The building is used regularly for a range of community activities as well as for worship and church events.
LSUC – Saxmundham Chapel
Our Saxmundham building is set in a beautiful residential area of the town and is a short walk (or drive) from the town centre. The chapel was completed at the start of the Mid-Victorian period and is a charming example of a non-conformist chapel of the period. We normally meet for worship in the hall behind the main chapel.
